When twenty-two year old Olivia LeRoux moves to New York City, she never imagined she was stepping into a world of passion, sensation, seduction and oblivion until the fanatical weeks she spent with Jace Rush, a captivatingly possessive businessman, shattered down around her with a truth that threatened to suffocate her and shred her heart.

Olivia’s life spiraled out of control. One moment, she was texting her best friend about a bottle of wine and the next, everything was black. Waking up in the hospital was one thing. But staring into the hypnotic blue eyes of a man she’d never seen before was another. When he asked her out she couldn’t refuse. Something about him compelled her to release her inhibitions and jump headfirst into a relationship unlike anything she could ever imagine. When the no-strings-attached relationship became tied down with the looming threat to Olivia’s life, emotions were heightened and catastrophic secrets were revealed. In the end, can Olivia accept Jace for what he is or will her fears of his demons force her to ignore her heart and walk away?

Ugghhh! I really wanted to like this book. In fact, I had really hoped to love it. I'd just finished reading "Enraptured" by this same author - which I really did love - and I had fairly high expectations for this book. All of them failed.

First of all, the story line. It's nearly identical to 50 Shades of Grey, minus Christian Grey's sex room. But the main characters are nearly identical...cave-man alpha wants to dominate sweet virginal young woman and all she wants is to submit. Blah-blah-blah. He's rich and successful and expects her to bend to his every whim, and she just can't say no. Yuck. It's been done before.

With that said, I would've given this book a full 3 stars for the simple reason that it was passably interesting. It was predictable and nearly identical to 50 Shades of Grey (the author may be in serious jeopardy of a plagiarism lawsuit), but it was overall interesting. I wanted to know more about the characters, but the author never got around to giving us more information. No, the reason I'm giving this book only 2 stars - and dang-near gave it only one - is because the author is in desperate need of taking a class on grammar, sentence structure and word usage. Barring that, she should hire a good copyeditor. She made similar errors in her first book, but I was able to overlook them because the story was so engrossing. This time they just aggravated me to the point I started highlighting every time she used a word incorrectly. I didn't even highlight her terrible punctuation, but it was hard to keep from doing so.

To the author: Please get a good copyeditor. You've got some talent, but your inability to to put together consistent grammatically correct sentences is going to turn readers off. If I hadn't had such high expectations of this book, I'd have put it down about 10 pages into it...the errors were so frustratingly blatant. Here are just some of the things that drove me nuts:

PERUSAL versus PURSUAL: "Perusal" is to peruse or to study something. "Pursual" (and I'm not sure that's really a word) is to pursue, which is the act of going after someone or something.

THEN versus THAN: Almost without exception, the author used the word "then" when she should've used "than." They are not the same word. "Than" is a comparison word, as in "I am better than that." Or, "He is taller than she is."

JACKAL AND HIDE: Seriously?? It's "Jeckyll and Hyde."

BUTT versus BUD: You don't nip something in the butt, you nip it in the bud.

WEARY versus WARY: This one drove me the craziest! Without exception, the author used the word "weary" instead of "wary." A person is WARY of someone's intentions, not WEARY of their intentions.

ITS versus IT'S versus ITS' : "It's" is not possessive. It's two words combined that together mean "it is." The word "its" on the other hand is always the correct word to use when referring to something when you don't mean "it is." For example, "The dog wagged ITS tail." There is no such word as ITS'.

CONSCIOUS versus CONSCIENCE: these two words are not interchangeable. "Conscious" refers to a process of thought and the way one's brain works...or being awake or asleep. "Conscience" is one's ability to feel remorse.

STOCKER versus STALKER: Ummm...the author was looking for the word STALKER. A stalker is a creep who follows someone around. A stocker is someone who might put things on the shelves (or maybe take inventory) at Target.

Okay...now I'm just aggravated so I have to stop. I counted 37 misused words, and that's only AFTER I started counting. If there's 267 pages to this book, then that's 14% of the book is filled with misused words. I didn't even count the bad sentence structure and punctuation, but I have no doubt that doing so would put that percentage up to at least 30% or more.

Please get a decent copy editor. After seeing what you did with "Enraptured," I think you've got some talent and you might be able to do extremely well with writing. You're clearly creative, but the lack of understanding you have for the English language is going to turn off even your most forgiving of readers.

I might read another book by this author if it's free, but I refuse to pay another dime until I feel convinced that the copy is "cleaner."

All Good Things Book One edition by Alannah Carbonneau Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I loved the story and the characters but the typos and wrong word usage was distracting. I wonder who proofs thes
So many negative reviews!
I enjoyed this and the next one! Hang in there peeps few bad reviews everyone us different!
The story was pretty good, but it left me wondering how 2 grown-ups can be in love with each other & have no possible idea why. The story had a great flow (couldn't stop reading it) but the word choices were confusing, i.e., but instead bit and soap instead of soak.
This book didn't appear to have been read, except by a few, but I read the sample and was hooked. This is a very good story, although there are some grammatical errors, it was a good read. I have read the second book as well and I can't wait for the third book.
This story begins as a strange sort of obsession. Jace is taken by her on first sight. She has her doubts and gives him a bit of a run for his money, but it end up being worth it for her until his ex comes on the picture. What will happen next?
When I first started reading this book it read like your typical billionaire, alpha, control freak male. But then the suspence came into play then the romance and by e end we had a full blow story where one emotion lead into another. I can honestly say that the end was pretty pedicab le but I did like the fact that one of the characters questioned Olivia on why she was doing what she was doing. I can't wait to move on to the second book to continue this journey.
This is my thirteenth novel written by the author. This review is story-based.

In a world full of Erotic Romances, you have to be inventive and innovative, and that is what the author accomplished here.

We are presented with Olivia LeRoux, a recently transplanted Canadian now living in New York City. She comes with a troublesome past and tries to find in NYC a life free from the bonds of her incomprehensible and over-bearing family.

A twist of fate brings her in the care of one of NYC's most eligible bachelors - Jace Rush. He is captivated by her and bound to her in a such a way even he has a hard time describing it.

Olivia and Jace have dominant personalities and, boy, do they bump heads! It will take a singular situation to bring one of them into submission. The sexual tension in the book is delectable and had me at the edge of my seat sipping on an iced tea while a blizzard was blowing outside.

There is a bit of everything written in this book Romance, Suspense, and super hot and steamy scenes between Jace and Olivia.

Will these two lovers have their Happy Ever After, or will someone from their pasts haunt their chances?

Five Stars from me. Brava.
